Since my parents got a place in Bethany Beach back in 1997 I’ve been eating my way around the beach. There’s more to beach food than just crabs, though I’ll have you know the crabs are some of the best you’ll find in the world! Whether you’re coming for the weekend or visiting for a bit longer on vacation, give this list of the best places to eat at the Maryland and Delaware beaches a look. After all, if you only get a few meals here you want to make sure you make them count!

Best Places to Eat in Bethany Beach

1. Bethany Blues BBQ – The sauces are out of this world and the portions are generous.
2. Blue Coast Seafood Grill – Lots of parking, great views and delicious food.
3. Cottage Cafe – A local’s favorite. Get the Dune Fries.
4. DiFebo’s Italian Restaurant – Come hungry! This Italian food rivals some of the best you’ll find in any city.
5. Grotto Pizza – Thin pizza with a cheese swirl.
6. Mango’s – Fish tacos and the Mango-rita, oh boy.
7. Mickey’s Family Crabhouse – All You Can Eat (AUCE) Crabs and a bucket of beer sound good to ya?!
8. Sandy Pony Donuts – 24 flavors, get ’em before they sell out!

Best Places to Eat in

Dewey Beach

1. Nalu Surf Bar and Grill – Salads and poke bowls!
2. Rusty Rudder – A Delaware beach go-to. Good food and live music.
3. The Starboard – Bloody mary’s count as food, right?
4. Woody’s – The Crab Cake on a Caesar salad is out of this world.

Best Places to Eat in

Fenwick Island

1. Bahama’s Crab Shack – Steamed crabs, oh boy! Better get a bushel.
2. Jimmy’s Kitchen – A local favorite. My Mom swears by the Waffle with Chipped Beef Gravy.
3. Harpoon Hannah’s – Dock your boat, grab a bite and people watch under the Tiki Bar.
4. High Stakes Bar and Grill – the Philly cheesesteaks are legit!
5. Just Hooked – A Farm to Table serving up some of the freshest food at the beach.
6. Leo’s Seafood Restaurant – Really good breakfast spot!
7. Mancini’s Brick Oven Pizzeria and Restaurant – Crabmeat Bruschetta
8. Nantucket’s – Chowdah! And all kinds of other delicious seafood in an upscale setting
9. Papa Grande’s – Our go-to spot when we’re craving Mexican at the beach

Best Places to Eat in

Lewes

1. Crooked Hammock Brewery – Did someone say food and craft beer?
2. Striper Bites – The Nor’Easter is the perfect seafood sampler. Do it.
3. Touch of Italy II – Dine in or carryout, it’s all good.

Best Places to Eat in

Ocean City

1. Barn 34 – The space is cool and food is too.
2. Crabcake Factory – The crabcakes here are so good! They’ll ship ’em to your house, too!
3. Crab Bag – The crabs are great and so is the fried chicken!
4. Fager’s Island – Awesome atmosphere.
5. Fish Tales – Sweet and chill spot by the water. Say yes to the fish and chips
6. General’s Kitchen – Awesome chipped beef gravy.
7. Hooper’s Crab House – Steamed crabs … get there early.
8. Sahara Cafe – Breakfast. Can’t go wrong!
9. Seacrets – You’ll probably drink more than you eat here but the jerk chicken is solid.
10. Smoker’s BBQ Pit – Hand pulled pork, you copy?
11. The Grove – Anything and everything. Call to make a reservation and then hope you get one!
12. Thrasher’s – Best. French Fries. Ever.

Best Places to Eat in

Rehoboth Beach

1. Amuse – There’s a James Beard Award Winning Chef at the beach!
2. Big Fish Grill – Any and all of the seafood as well as the Neva’s Potatoes!
3. Chesapeake & Maine – Oysters anyone?! The raw bar is super.
4. Dogfish Head – More than just beers, their food is awesome. We recommend their wood-fired pizzas.
5. Fork and Flask – Small plates, big flavor.
6. Henlopen City Oyster House – Repeat after me: oysters, oysters, oysters.
7. Indigo Indian Cuisine – Finally! Excellent Indian Food at the beach!
8. Purple Parrot – They have karaoke, wings, salads and drinks. Need we say more?
9. Royal Treat – A classic. We’ve been getting ice cream here for almost 30 years.
10. The Blue Hen – The space is gorgeous and the food is top-notch.
11. The Cultured Pearl – Excellent sushi and a cool atmosphere.
