The Best Places in Asheville to Get a Drink

Asheville is beer city but you knew that already, right? Turns out there’s a bunch of great places to get a delicious cocktail in town as well. Everything from the typical drinks like an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan to the more inventive such as the Blood and Sand that you can find at the Admiral.

The Crucible

It’s a little hard to find but it’s one of the hidden gems in Asheville. It’s dimly lit but has a red bulb for ambiance. The drinks are affordable and it’s in a cool little section of the River Arts District.

The Imperial Life

This is upstairs above Table. Though you’re downtown, it feels removed from everything and private. The staff there is dressed in bow ties and suspenders and the cocktails are just as fun. If you’re hungry, they have some of the best bar snacks in town. All their charcuterie and pickles are made in-house.

The Omni Grove Park Inn

If you’re looking for a sunset and a drink and you want an incredible view, look no further than the Grove Park Inn. Head out back and sit on the stone patio and order snacks and drinks – trust us, you won’t regret it.

Nine Mile

This is a list about mixed drinks and so while Nine Mile made the list because their mixed drinks are awesome, we really put it on this list because this neighborhood bar has some of the coldest beer in town. Their selection is great, too (they carry Rogue Dead Guy Ale from the Pacific Northwest!) It’s always got a friendly vibe to it and while getting a seat at the bar can be tough almost every night of the week, if you’re lucky enough to snag one you’ll be in for a treat.

Bull and Beggar

There’s something for everyone on their drink menu. You can get a shift drink, a shot and a beer (Narraganset) or a specialty hand crafted cocktail where every layer of the cocktail is made from scratch. They make their own syrups and always have something creative and new for you to try.

The Montford Rooftop Bar

If you’re downtown and don’t want to leave but you want to enjoy a sunset, head on up to the Montford. The valet parking is free and the drinks are creative and delicious. We also love the snacks that Philip Bollhoefer is always thinking up.

Where to go for a great cocktail?

While these are our favorite places to grab a drink in Asheville, they’re not the only places we like to visit. Have you seen our other list of the Best Breweries in Asheville?
